Best Running Trails in Texas
Trail running is one of the most enjoyable activities that you can indulge in. It is one of the best cardio workouts out there, and you also get to appreciate nature while you are at it. Here are some of the best running trails in Texas you should know about:
White Rock Lake
This place, which is located in the middle of Dallas, will give you a whole new appreciation and perspective on Downton Dallas. You don’t even have to carry a water bottle in this place. Instead, you can just stop by at one of the many water fountains around the trail and enjoy your water from a natural source.
Hill Country State Natural Area, Bandera
If you are looking for a challenging trail run, then this is the place. The terrain is rough and rugged. You’ve got lots of grass valleys and limestone hills. And you don’t have any water sources around the trail, so you will have to come to this place well equipped and ready to run in a natural environment.
Pedernales Falls State Park
This is one of the many incredible state parks you will find in Texas. The terrain is an interesting mix of dirt and rocks. You can try the two most commonly used trail routes to try here, i.e., the Warfle’s Trail and the Twin Falls Nature Trail and both of them are equally worth the time and effort. You can also go for the Wolf Mountain Trail to get a serious cardio workout.
Katy Trail
This fascinating trail was actually once an abandoned railroad line. You’ve got a nice concrete trail to run on, although you might just opt to walk because it is just so serene and lovely here. You can make so many great friends in this place.
Arbor Hills Nature Preserve
This wooded Preserve is not that far from Downton Dallas. It’s a popular place for mountain-biking enthusiasts. However, keep in mind. This place is notorious for its snakes. You’ve got three trails to try, and it might be a good idea to go on a weekday as it can get quite crowded on the weekends.
Lost Maples State Natural Area, Vanderpool
This has to be one of the most beautiful places in Texas. It is spectacular in the fall. However, it has become so popular that you will find lots of people here, which can put you off if you don’t like crowds. You can try the West Trail or the Mystic trail when you are here.
In Conclusion
These are just some of the many great trails available in Texas. Whatever choice you make, remember to be safe and prepared, and more importantly, enjoy yourself. Make sure that you have some great company around you to remain entertained as well.
